First time, this ME told me my mix wasn't good enough - that the bass and kick were way too loud. Before I signed up with LANDR, I reached out to an ME recommended by several people here. If I'm lucky enough to have a label interested in any of my tracks, then I'll have it sent to a human ME or the label will do that. I already have a full time job and I'm not making any money from music, so I simply can't afford it financially or with my time. That would cost A LOT more with a human ME, not to mention the time, the wait and the back and forth. This allows me to upload many takes of a mix to get mastered. I got a big discount signing up for 1 year unlimited mastering from LANDR. JVFM, you sound way too angry for me to engage you on a rational level. Therefore, I don’t have an issue with LANDR for the time being and can stop worrying about mastering for the next year while I try to focus on making as many tracks as possible instead. I'm in a progress, NOT perfection sort of phase. I’d rather focus on producing and second on improving my mixes. I don’t want to spend that time learning to perfect mastering. I work 45 hours per week Mon-Fri and only have a few hours per night of free time after work. I don’t have the time to deal back and forth constantly with a human mastering service – not to mention, costing significantly more money. The other ME was just not available often. I tried to reach out to 2 human ME's and the first one rejected my mix twice saying it wasn't up to par. My own attempt sounded flat and didn't sparkle in comparison to all the algorithmic ones. The LANDR one set at “low intensity” was my favorite. I compared LANDR to 2 other online algorithmic services and against my own attempt. Before I get barrage of “man, you should have more respect for you art” or “you can’t rely on machines” comments, I want to explain my decision. With an additional 20% discount, the price was good.
